I recently had to recover from a medical procedure. (It was a lumbar puncture. It’s rather routine, but if you are squeamish about medical things do not google it. 0 out of 5 stars. Do not recommend.) I was stuck laying down, usually flat on my back, for a not insignificant number of days.
I am extremely lucky that I was able to take the time I needed to recover and rest, but I was also very bored. I despise being bored. Here are some of the things that kept me from screaming in frustration.
I have a newfound appreciation for audiobooks.
Jon’s Downright Ridiculous Shooting Case by A.J. Sherwood has been in my Audible library for a while but hadn’t actually listened to all of it yet. It’s narrated by the late Kenneth Obi. It’s true that I could listen to that man read the phone book, but he a really lovely job reading A.J. Sherwood as well. Here’s a link to AJ Sherwood’s website page that lists all the places you can buy her audio books.
Renee Raudman narrates the first three books of one of my favorite book series: The Innkeeper Chronicles by Ilona Andrews. They’re sort of a mix of urban fantasy, science-fiction, and romance. They’re funny and unique and I read them at least once a year. Renee Raudman is a goddess. Her voice is beautiful and her acting is amazing. I might get a couple months of audible at some point so I can collect a few more books that she narrates. Here’s the link to book one on Amazon.
Watching Sean Lew and Kaycee Rice dance. Here’s one of my favorites.
I watched most of the United States Presidential Inauguration Ceremony, though I missed that there was an event in the evening. Somehow. I did not miss Amanda Goreman. I rewatched her recitation several times. It was amazing. In case you missed that first link, here it is again.
I played a bit of a phone game called Tents and Trees, but that wasn’t a new thing. I’ve been playing that for years. It’s sort of like minesweeper.
To celebrate being back on my feet without spitting headaches, I’ve posted a sneak peek in my Facebook group. If you would like to read the rough draft of the prologue to my current work-in-progress, you can find the link in the group: Geneva Vand’s Bookwyrms.
